This Tumblr collects horrible, lazy transphobic jokes as told by your favorite comedians, TV shows, movies, video games, and comics.

Trigger warnings everywhere!

I thought it might be interesting to juxtapose quotes from GTA sweat-nerds trying desperately to defend their precious little game from being considered transphobic with quotes from other GTA sweat-nerds posting their opinions on the gamespot review done by a pretty awesome trans woman!

About the transphobia:

"If only one could distinguish between fiction and reality. If only.

I’m going to make this brief, because I’m not going to give any would be social justice knights swords to slay me with, but this is a game. A game which creates an alternate reality of our own world so players can interact with it and hopefully have fun. It allows us to do things we wouldn’t normally do, like kill hookers and run over poor grandma. It’s not by any means an accurate representation of our world, and it’s not a statement about transgendered people or any other group featured in the game. Rockstar simply used a stereotype that they thought players would find most humorous, because I’m guessing that’s why they’re in the game in the first place, to cause a laugh.”

About the Reviewer:

Ok this person looks like they became a woman like ten minutes ago and suddenly he/she is a champion for womens rights.”

About the transphobia:

People dont seem to reason that -everything- is touched on in Grand Theft Auto. It’s not meant to be taken seriously — literally, they have a giant disclaimer at the startup they force you to read.

About the Reviewer:

I actually agree. If you see any of her videos on the site you can see she/he wasn’t born a woman, and now that “she” is one, she acts all self righteous like women are everything. To put a negative on a GRAND THEFT AUTO game such as “Politically muddled and profoundly misogynistic” is ridiculous.

About the transphobia:

The thing about the GTA games is that they make fun of everyone.

About the Reviewer:

I am an open minded person but all I could do was try to find the bulge in that reviewers clothing. Did not hear a word it said.

About the transphobia:

Hell, everything in this game was based on stereotypical depictions and realities of the world, and putting them up for all to see AND DISCUSS. Hell yes it’s disgusting. Hell yes it’s wrong that the treatment is an existing and real problem. And yet… I think that was the point. To point it out and make it obvious instead of getting ignored as an issue as it is everywhere else.

About the Reviewer:

that creature shouldnt even exist! it wants to be treated like a girl because it was a male before it turned into a female.

Huh. It seems as though maybe, just maybe, the bigoted content in media such as the GTA series is actually influencing the opinions and behaviors of real life people! Even though that should be impossible, because all of its influence should be sealed into the game’s disc! I mean it is a game. It is just jokes. Those things are completely incapable of shaping the opinions of anyone. It’d have to be some kind of art form before it could do that.

I mean, this and depictions similar to this will likely be many sweat-nerds’ first or only exposure to trans people. You can’t influence anyone on a subject if you have a complete monopoly on how it’s presented. That’s just ridiculous!

badtransjokes:

Before I even started playing the new GTA, I knew there would be trans women in it. I knew about where and when I could find them. I knew what their jobs would be. Because to the people this game is made by and targeted to, we can only be one of two things: secret ‘batin’ fantasies or sex workers moaning about hormones and their private parts.

When I found and greeted a group of them, the main characters had the following things to say:

Michael: Hello, sir. I mean, madam. I mean, ~whatever~

Michael: Well, hello, Mid-op.

Franklin: Almost fooled me, (bro-she?). Almost.

Franklin: Hey, you need to keep taking your hormones!

And the trans women said the following as I creepily eavesdropped and took photos of them (remember, these quotes were intended to be funny.):

Trans woman: I don’t think the laser treatment is working!

Trans woman: They won’t let me on the ladies’ basketball league at the rec center. This is crazy! I think I’m going to sue or something.

Trans woman: (on the phone) I Just wish he’d let me untuck more… I dunno if I wanna lose it forever, and he needs to understand that!

A couple of additional things, since this post seems to be more popular than I expected it to be:

The trans women can be located at night outside the Cockatoo Nightclub and Pitcher’s (the purchasable gay bar). Their locations are in the highlighted circles on the map below. In case someone wants to look into this themselves.

Also, I saw some people asking about this on Twitter: I couldn’t get the trans women to say any new dialogue after getting involved in a fight with them (they attacked me, as most male and a few female npcs will do if you stay near them, too long.).

And if I continued to try to speak with them, the character I was playing as would use the generic dialogue he used for all male npcs, saying things like “hey, man” and “sup, dude”.

The trans women probably have more dialogue, too. If you leave them alone long enough. That’s just what I happened to hear.

GTA V presents She Male Bop!

The new Grand Theft Auto game features a low-brow parody of America’s Got Talent, named “Fame or Shame”. One of groups performing in it is a group of trans women named “She Male Bop” and though they are only briefly mentioned on the actual show, the in-game website features some extra info on them:

The Talent Show America Deserves - You’ve Reached Fame or Shame

Whether it’s dogs humping humans, mimes setting themselves on fire, pointless cover versions of power ballads, finger puppets frigging each other, moms juggling dildos, one legged Irish dancers, the ‘all new’ and exciting Karin Dilettante, elephant wrestling, or dancing trannies, you don’t know what you’ll see next on Fame or Shame presented by Face, Sprunk, Logger, Up ‘n’ Atom, Youtool, Fleeca, Flow water, and The Drone.

She Male Bop

The pride of the LBGT, which we think stands for Lady Boy’s Gigantic Tits, this act has sashayed into America’s living room, sat on Daddy’s lap and asked for a spanking. Originally a subway act in Liberty City, they sent a video into Fame or Shame and we couldn’t resist. Plus one of the casting directors is Bi!

I’m honestly a little ashamed that I’m playing this game, at this point. Even ignoring the blatant transphobia, it seems like it was written by a bunch of 12 year old boys giggling over the word “boobies.”
